Hello and welcome to my website.

My name is Melissa Launay, I am a Spanish - English artist and illustrator living and working in London.

With my paintings I try to evoke an enchanting, mysterious and gentle mood of other times and dream worlds into witch one can escape. My style is delicate, colourful and intricate.

I am fascinated by the elegant lines of Japanese prints, the luxurious colours of arabesque and Indian motifs, the use of gold in Byzantine illustrations and the flat impossible perspectives of medieval and early Renaissance art.
Amongst many more I admire the works of  Botticelli, Klimt, Henri Rousseau, Frieda Khalo, Errol le Cain,Gustave Moreau, illustrator Olaf Hajek…

You can find my work in several galleries across the UK. I also exhibit in a couple of art fairs every year and illustrate books. At present I am working on “My mama Earth” by Barefoot Books, to be published in March 2012.
